IN CIRCUMSTANCES OF HIGH LATENT COOLING LOADS, DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFYING CAN PROVE ECONOMIC. IF THE REGENERATION OF THE DESICCANT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY COGENERATION, IE BY USING WASTE HEAT FROM A GAS-ENGINE DRIVEN GENERATOR PROVIDING A CONSTANT BASE LOAD, THEN GREATER ECONOMY IS POSSIBLE. ADDING STRONG DESICCANT STORAGE ENABLES SUCH A PLANT TO OPERATE WHEN THE COGENERATION USE DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH THE DEHUMIDIFICATION DUTY. THE ARTICLE TAKES SPECIFIC CASES AND ANALYSES COSTS, ALSO DIFFERING ELECTRICITY TO GAS COST RATIOS IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE USA. D.W.H.
