Summary

The overview of the sorption refrigeration cycles using solar energy was presented. Both the cooling temperature and the coefficient of performance were chosen as the criteria to evaluate the sorption refrigeration system with a generation temperature less than 90°C. And among three kinds of solar powered chemisorption refrigeration systems for deep freezing, that are the single stage solid-gas system using BaCl2-ammonia, the two cascaded system using BaCl2 reacting with ammonia, and the new system applying compound metallic salts (CaCl2 & BaCl2) with ammonia, the new system can reach the deep freezing temperature of -20°C and achieve the higher solar COP of 0.135, when the generation temperature and the condensing temperature are 70-90 and 35°C.
