Summary

From the perspective of preventing frosting, proposes a frost-free air-source heat pump (FFASHP) system using liquid desiccant. Investigates the effects of the outdoor air temperature and relative humidity (RH) on the performance of the system. Compares the performance of the FFASHP system with the conventional air-source heat pump (ASHP) system using electric humidification. The results show that when the outdoor air RH is 79%, with the outdoor air temperature increasing from-4°C to 5°C, COP_s of the system increases from 2.2 to 4.1, which is 24%-41% higher than that of the conventional ASHP system using electric humidification. The COPs increases slightly with the outdoor air RH in a certain range. Compared with the conventional ASHP system, the FFASHP system will be more efficient in cold-moist regions in winter.
