Summary
The authors describe the development of a Stirling compressor (Solo 161 type) for temperatures below -30 °C. Data collected during the experiment were lower than those obtained from a numerical simulation. Possible improvements were identified. Performance was thus increased by 30%. This technology could be competitive for temperatures down to -40 °C.
