Simulation of a Stirling engine-compression/absorption hybrid cooling system.

Simulación de un sistema de enfriamiento híbrido motor Stirling-compresión/absorción.

Summary

This paper presents the simulation of a hybrid cooling system operating with a steam compression cooling system coupled to a Stirling engine and an absorption one. The cooling load of the system is obtained with different transmission and solar radiation loads, depending on the outside temperature. The compressor of the compression system is coupled with a Stirling engine. The energy demand for the entire system is thermal energy. The study was first conducted using only the compression cooling system. Subsequently, the load was partially removed with the support of the absorption system between 0% and 100% of the total load. The influence of the cooling load of the space to be cooled, as well as that of each of the cooling systems, on the overall thermal load of the hybrid system was evaluated. The results show that the greatest thermal supply load is required when only the absorption system is used. As the compression system is used, the thermal feed load decreases. The best combination of production and consumption of thermal load was when the absorption system operates between 20% and 40% of its maximum load.
