Performance evaluation and simulation of a new absorbent for an absorption refrigeration system.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

In this article the use of an alternative absorbent used in absorption refrigeration cycles to replace the absorbent currently employed in these kind of systems, lithium bromide, has been studied. The alternative system consists of absorbent and refrigerant. To compare the performance of both systems, a programme to simulate theoretical absorption cycles from empirical data was developed. By means of the programme, the efficiency of the absorption cycles was evaluated. Also the influence of changes in the operating conditions on the performance of each cycle has been analysed. The study gives an insight into the internal parameters and into the possible behaviour for more severe conditions than those studied.
