Summary

INCREASING THE ICE PACKING FACTOR IN THE STORAGE TANK TO COMPENSATE DECREASING THE TANK VOLUME CAUSES THE REDUCTION IN THE COP OF THE COMPRESSOR. IN ORDER TO OPTIMIZE THE TOTAL ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF ADOPTING AN ICE STORAGE SYSTEM, THE STORAGE CAPACITY OF LATENT HEAT SHOULD BE KEPT LOWER THAN A CERTAIN AMOUNT AND THAT OF SENSIBLE HEAT SHOULD BE DESIGNED ACCORDINGLY. THIS CONCEPT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THROUGH A SERIES OF EXPERIMENTS AND A HIGHLYEFFICIENT ICE STORAGE SYSTEM HAS BEEN OBTAINED TOGETHER WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF DOUBLE COILED CROSS LINKED POLYETHYLENE HEAT EXCHANGER FOR ICE MAKING.
