Performance of transcritical and subcritical R410A residential air conditioning and heat pump system.

Summary

A well-instrumented R410A residential air conditioning split system was operated over subcritical and transcritical conditions. The experimental results showed no advantage going to transcritical mode when the ambient temperature is much lower than the critical temperature of the refrigerant. The system operated well in both modes.
