THE SYSTEM DESCRIBED REPRESENTS A VERY PROMISING CONFIGURATION OF ENGINE DRIVEN HEAT PUMP, BECAUSE OF THE LONG LIFE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FREE-PISTON STIRLING ENGINE AND THE HERMETIC NATURE OF BOTH THE ENGINE AND REFRIGERANT WORKING FLUIDS. RECENT CHANGES IN THE TRANSMISSION OF THIS SYSTEM AND THE DESIGN OF A NEW ENGINE SECTION HAVE ALLOWED PERFORMANCE TO BECOME VERY ATTRACTIVE.
