Summary
The use of plate heat exchangers (PHX) in refrigeration plants with ice slurry applications offers very attractive and compact design solutions. The design data presently available are still scarce and the results of the former studies fail to agree. The main goal of the paper is to give an overview of the measurements performed at HTA Luzern with a commercially available PHX with 0.1 m2 exchange area and to comment on some effects which are important for future studies.
