Author(s) : STENHEDE C.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The article presents the technology of braze-welded plate heat exchangers (BPHE) used in refrigeration. Gives points to be taken into account in the design and sizing of the evaporator, condenser and expansion valve. Points to be considered in the expansion valve-evaporator system: pressure drop and fluid distribution into plate channels; phase separation of refrigerant after expansion valve; adaptation of the valve to the evaporator system. Points to be considered in a BPHE used as a condenser: installation parallel operation of condensers with different pressure drops, operation with an equalization line, condensate subcooling. J.G.
