Summary

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A SORBENT INCREASES WITH THE SURFACE AREA AVAILABLE FOR EXPOSURE. FOR A SORBENT SUCH AS ACTIVATED CHARCOAL, THE HIGHER THE SURFACE AREA TO MASS RATIO, THE BETTER THE ADSORPTION. DRY PROCESSED CARBON COMPOSITE FILTERS ARE MADE FROM A FIBRE MAT IMPREGNATED WITH FINE PARTICLES OF ACTIVATED CARBON, BONDED PHYSICALLY OR THERMALLY. THE RESULTANT COMPOSITE CAN BE PLEATED TO FIT INTO NORMAL AIR FILTER FRAMES. TESTS SHOW THE EFFICIENCY ACHIEVED. D.W.H.
