Polyglycols: a new lubrication oil for refrigeration in which ammonia is soluble.
[In Dutch. / En néerlandais.]
Author(s) : BOCK W., SPILKER M.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The authors discuss the specific features of polyglycols as an alternative for lubrication in ammonia systems. They evaluate viscosity grade, taking into account the percentage of oil in the solution when applied to bearings at high temperature or in parts of the system at low temperature. Where previously ammonia was not regarded as being soluble in mineral oil, and basic system design favoured "wet" evaporators, a whole new concept of "dry" evaporators with low-liquid content is possible.
