Summary

CALCULATION OF A COLD STORE COOLING LOAD WHICH INCLUDES SOLAR RADIATION, AMBIENT HEAT INGRESS AND HEAT GENERATION WITHIN THE STORE. THE TEMPERATURE DURING THE PRECOOLING PERIOD IS ASSESSED FROM TWO FACTORS: THE FINAL STORAGE TEMPERATURE AFTER ALLOWING FOR HEAT INGRESS INTO THE STORE AND FLUCTUATIONS IN THE PRECOOLING TEMPERATURE. THE PRECOOLING TIME WAS CALCULATED FROM THE RELATION STORAGE TEMPERATURE/WEIGHT FACTOR PER UNIT OF HEAT EXTRACTION.
