Summary

These tubes had an outer diameter of 7 mm, and the working fluids were R407C and R410A. The previous and present experimental data were correlated by the Lockhart-Martinelli method. Different numerical constants were adopted for smooth and grooved tubes to calculate the Lockhart-Martinelli pressure parameter. In order to express the gravitational effect, a damping function was introduced. The proposed damping function was expressed as a function of the Froude number for both smooth and grooved tubes. 95% of the predicted results are within the accuracy of plus or minus 30% for both smooth and grooved tubes.
