THE PAPER REPORTS ON THE USE OF FOURIER ANALYSIS TO PREDICT THE AMOUNT OF SOLAR RADIATION AVAILABLE AT A CERTAIN SITE ON THE BASIS OF A SUITABLE COLLECTION OF HISTORICAL DATA. AN APPLICATION OF THIS TECHNIQUE IS ILLUSTRATED WITH REFERENCE TO A TWENTY-YEAR COLLECTION OF DAILY GLOBAL RADIATION DATA FROM PISA. SUCH A TECHNIQUE CAN PROVE USEFUL WHEN DEALING WITH PROBLEMS DEMANDING PROPER ALLOWANCE FOR THE FICKLE CHARACTER OF INSOLATION, SUCH AS THE SIZING OF THE BATTERY IN PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER PLANT WITH STORAGE.
