Prediction of evaporative heat transfer coefficient of pure refrigerants and binary refrigerant mixtures in a horizontal tube.

Author(s) : HONG E. C., KIM M. S., RO S. T.

Summary

Evaporative heat transfer coefficient was predicted for an annular flow of pure refrigerants and non-azeotropic binary refrigerant mixtures inside a horizontal tube. The heat transfer coefficients of pure refrigerants are predicted within more or less 14% error bound compared with the available experimental data. The calculation model applied to predict the heat transfer coefficients of non-azeotropic binary refrigerant mixtures shows a standard deviation of more or less 18%. Properties of refrigerant mixtures were calculated for several cases considering the composition difference in vapour and liquid phases, and the nonlinearity in the mixing rules. Results are given.
