Summary

THE POTENTIAL OF HEAT RECOVERY WATER HEATING IN THE HOT AND HUMID CLIMATES OF THE GULF AREA IS DEMONSTRATED BY CONSIDERING THE INSTALLATION OF SUCH A SYSTEM IN A TYPICAL SAUDI SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE LOCATED IN DHAHRAN, SAUDI ARABIA. ANALYSIS SHOWS THAT THE PROPOSED PROCESS CAN PRODUCE ABOUT 75% SAVINGS IN ANNUAL ENERGY REQUIRED FOR HEATING DOMESTIC WATER. AT THE SAME TIME THE HEAT RECOVERY PROCESS CAN IMPROVE THE COP OF THE COOLING CYCLE AS UP TO 30% OF THE CONDENSING LOAD IS REMOVED FROM THE MAIN CONDENSER.
