Summary

Convective heat transfer characteristics of four discs, each with a different surface configuration, were experimentally studied. Water was used as the test fluid and tests were carried out for various flow rates and rotational speeds (250-890 r.p.m.). Average heat transfer coefficient as high as 16 kilowatts/m2.K was obtained and it is shown that significant enhancements can be achieved by using grooved discs.
