Summary

THE MOST INTERESTING PROCESSES SEEM TO BE THE SWEDISH TECHNOLOGY COMPRISING A HUGE OUTER SHELL FORM AND A CORE DETERMINING THE INNER LINING OF THE BODY. THESE FORMS ARE FIRST LINED WITH GLASS FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC AND THEN THE INTERSTICE IS FILLED WITH POLYURETHANNE FOAM. ANOTHER PRODUCTION METHOD IS USED BY AN AMERICAN MANUFACTURER: THE CORE -THE INSULATION -THE OUTER SHELL, MADE OF GLASS FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC. CZECHOSLOVAKIAN RESEARCHERS CHOSE A METHOD OF PRECISION WINDING OF GLASS FIBRE TO FORM MONOLITIC SHELLS, THE POLYURETHANNE INSULATION BEING ASSEMBLED FROM MODULAR SEGMENTS IN A SIMPLE MANUAL OPERATION. THE MAIN MERIT OF THIS PROCESS IS A LOW INVESTMENT COST.
