Summary

The paper presents the achievements of Professor Lipowicz as well as the reproduction of an article "Analysis of start-up of booster refrigeration devices", published in 1958. Professor Lipowicz was the originator of the first Chair of Refrigeration Engineering in Poland. Close attention has been paid to his outstanding accomplishments such as the design of refrigeration systems for ice rinks as well as the design and diagnostics of marine refrigeration systems. The team founded by him over the period spanning 1950-60 was the first in Poland to deal with the above systems.
