Summary

The effects of pretreatment (water, STS + sucrose, dipping in hot water or STS + sucrose + dipping in hot water), shipping method (dry or wet), shipping duration (0, 12, 24 or 48 h) and shipping temperature (3 or 20 °C) on the vase life of cut flowers of chrysanthemums were investigated. Pretreatment with STS + 5% sucrose + dipping in hot water and shipping at 3 °C decreased CO2 production and improved the overall quality of cut flowers including flower diameter, solution absorption and fresh weight after shipping for 12, 24 and 48 h.
