Summary

THE PROPERTIES OF A SYSTEM OF SUPERCONDUCTING FILAMENTS IN A NORMAL METAL MATRIX ARE INVESTIGATED. THE CRITICAL PARAMETERS OF THE SYSTEM AND THEIR DEPENDENCE ON THE MAGNETIC FIELD ARE FOUND FOR LOW CONCENTRATIONS OF THE SUPERCONDUCTING PHASE ON THE BASIS OF PERCOLATION THEORY. IT IS SHOWN THAT FOR A SUBSTANTIAL FRACTION OF THE SUPERCONDUCTOR, HIGH SUPERCONDUCTING CURRENT DENSITIES MAY BE ACHIEVED IN STRONG FIELDS DUE TO SURFACE PINNING AT THE NORMAL AND SUPERCONDUCTING PHASE INTERFACE.
