Summary

The fabrication of bismuth (lead)-2223 multifilamentary wires by means of the powder-in-tube method and their electric and magnetic characterization are reported. High current capability of the silver-sheathed composites is obtained. Multifilamentary cables with different geometrical arrangements of the superconducting filaments inside the silver matrix were also prepared and characterized. The microstructure was analyzed and correlated to the electrical properties.
