PROPERTIES OF OIL-REFRIGERANT LIQUID MIXTURES WITH APPLICATIONS TO OIL CONCENTRATION MEASUREMENT. 1. THERMOPHYSICAL AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES.

Summary

AN INVESTIGATION OF THERMOPHYSICAL AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF OIL-REFRIGERANT LIQUID MIXTURES AS POSSIBLE BASES FOR A REAL-TIME MEASUREMENT OF OIL CONCENTRATION IS PRESENTED. THE PAPER CONTAINS BRIEF RESULTS OF A LITERATURE SURVEY. DESCRIPTIONS OF PROCEDURES AND RESULTS FROM LABORATORY MEASUREMENTS OF LIQUID DENSITY, ACOUSTIC VELOCITY, AND VISCOSITY IN MIXTURES OF REFRIGERATION OILS AND R113 ARE PRESENTED. ALSO INCLUDED IS A DISCUSSION OF INSTRUMENTATION THAT COULD BE ADAPTED TO OIL CONCENTRATION MEASUREMENT. POTENTIALLY SUCCESSFUL OIL CONCENTRATION SENSORS, BASED ON DENSITY MEASUREMENT AND ACOUSTIC VELOCITY MEASUREMENT, HAVE BEEN RECOMMENDED FOR CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT.
