Summary

This article presents psychrometric formulations of supersaturated moist air. The results are presented for a temperature range of -40 to 40 °C and humidity ratios from 0 kg/kga to 0.1 kg/kg air for standard atmospheric pressure. These properties are developed employing the virial equation of state and the virial coefficients for air and water vapour. The results are presented in the form of psychrometric charts in the supersaturated zone that include the humidity ratio, specific volume, specific enthalpy, and the degree of saturation. The data presented will extend the available body of psychrometric moist air data and provide a capability to study situations involving simultaneous heat and mass transfer in supersaturated air, which has historically been impeded by the lack of property data in the supersaturated zone of the psychrometric chart.
