Summary

A full-scale version of a packaged extended aeration system was outfitted with three float-type rotameter air-flow meters. Efforts were directed toward determining the cause of the discrepancy when the system operated under pressure. A variety of ideas were tested to seek an explanation for the discrepancy in measured flow rates, including leaks, detective meters, pressure and temperature effects, and the effect of pulsation.
