Pulse tube for household refrigeration: feasibility and performance prediction.

Author(s) : TRYSTRAM J., STOUFFS P.

Summary

The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the performance and feasibility of the pulse tube refrigerator (PTR) for domestic applications. The predictions indicate that the performance of PTR remains mediocre compared to other systems. However, the PTR is able to operate in a large temperature range and presents significant advantage of reliability. The most important parameters have been determined. Besides, a cold heat exchanger whose main characteristics are hopeful for future PTR developments is defined.
