Purge needs in absorption chillers.
Author(s) : MURRAY J. G.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The article gives reasons why non condensable gases can accumulate in the absorbers of water and lithium-bromide absorption machines (air leaks and hydrogen loss), and the resulting loss of output (the method of operation is essentially different with centrifugal units where non condensable gases accumulate in the condenser). The article then describes details of design and operation of a classical purging unit for a water and lithium-bromide absorption plant; illustrations are given. Recent patents are also examined.
