Summary
In order to simulate an insulated superconductor in practical use, the authors used a 20-micrometer-thick stainless steel strip, both surfaces of which were coated with a PVF film and a carbon-paste film. Rapid transient (up to approximately 5,000 K/s) and steady-state boiling heat transfer from this vertical test strip was studied in steady-state boiling and in the case of stepwise heating with a heat flux below and above the steady state.
