Summary

In recent years, efforts in designing the indoor and outdoor heat exchangers installed in heat-pump air-conditioning machines have been directed to reducing the volume of the heat exchangers, reducing the noise from the indoor and outdoor units of air conditioning machines and to lessening the reduction in heat exchanger performance of the outdoor heat exchanger (due to frost formation encountered in the heating mode operation). The purpose of the paper is to review the current technologies and to discuss potential further research approaches to the problems.
