Summary

The article describes a central air-conditioning installation serving a multi-purpose building in Guayaquil, Ecuador. To reduce the night-time electricity consumption of oversized plant, they are turned off and replaced by small, direct-expansion, self-contained units. The system is described, and its operating characteristics are given.
