IN RECOGNITION OF THE NEED FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION IN HVAC PUMPING PROCESSES, THIS PAPER WAS WRITTEN TO DEMONSTRATE THE BROAD ENERGY CONSUMPTIONS THAT OCCUR WITH FOUR DIFFERENT PUMPING SCHEMES FOR THE SAME CHILLED WATER SYSTEM. ANNUAL CONSUMPTIONS OF PUMPING ENERGY VARY FROM 481,000 KILOWH FOR CONSTANT VOLUME PUMPING TO 152,000 KILOWH FOR VARIABLE SPEED, BUILDING PUMPS.
