Summary
This paper presents an experimental study of a reduction of the heat transfer in a compressor combined with expander. The heat transfer from the compressor to the expander in the compressor combined with expander reduces the heating performance of a heat pump. To reduce this heat transfer, an experimental model of the compressor combined with the expander was tested to elucidate the total amount of the heat transfer. Simultaneously, in the experimental model, the heat transfer passages were identified. Based on these results, a middle oil pump, positioned between the motor and the expander, and an oil layer configured between this middle oil pump and the expander were constructed. As a result, the loss in the heating performance of the heat pump equipped with the compressor combined with expander was reduced by 360 W and the COP was improved by 5% in comparison with conventional heat pump.
