Summary
Tests showed that with R22 marine screw compressors, one-stage machines had 27% less refrigerating capacity than two-stage machines and used 12% more energy. Based on these findings, a two-stage machine was installed on board a new fishing boat, and a machine in a boat already in service was modernized. The author gives the results of these changes.
