Summary

The paper deals with slide controlled screw compressors. In the housing of that new compressor, two parallel axial shiftable slide valves one for capacity control and one for Vi control in parallel to the rotors are arranged. The changeable position of the Vi-slide allows an adaptation of internal compression ratio under full load and under part load condition too. The position of capacity slide influences the refrigeration capacity of the refrigeration plant controlled by a capacity controller. The position of the new Vi slide influences the power consumption of the screw compressor at full load and part load, controlled depending on calculated Vi value. Resources for calculated Vi values are measured values depending on power consumption at full load and part load operation conditions measured with different refrigerants. The new compressor controller adjusts the Vi slide in the calculated position. Operation under part load down to 40% capacity is more efficient.
