THREE ABSORPTION-TYPE CHILLERS AND THREE ELECTRIC-TURBO CHILLERS WERE INSTALLED FOR THE DISTRICT COOLING OF THE INTERNATIONAL GARDEN AND GREENERY EXPOSITION. THIS SORT OF SYSTEM IS NECESSARY FOR A STABLE SUPPLY TEMPERATURE AND HIGH ENERGY EFFICIENCY. BUT IT USUALLY TAKES 20-30 MINUTES TO START UP. THEREFORE, TO CONTROL THE NUMBERS OF UNITS IN OPERATION, IT IS NECESSARY TO PREDICT THE AIR-CONDITIONING LOAD 30 TO 60 MINUTES IN ADVANCE. IT IS ALSO DESIRABLE TO PREDICT THE AIR-CONDITIONING DEMAND PATTERN FOR ALL THE NEXT DAY AND TO ESTIMATE THE NUMBER OF MACHINES TO BE RUN. HEAT LOADINGS USING KALMAN FILTER WERE PREDICTED WITH 4 EXPLANATION VARIABLES: AIR TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, SOLAR RADIATION AND WIND VELOCITY. RESULTS WERE GOOD.
