Summary

SINCE 1979, A SERIES OF 52 PATIENTS WITH BRAIN TUMOURS HAVE BEEN TREATED BY HYPOTHERMAL EXCISION. THE AUTHORS FEEL THAT IT NOT ONLY RESULTS IN LESS HEMORRHAGEING AND A FASTER OPERATION, BUT ALSO IN SLIGHT CEREBRAL OEDEMA AND BETTER IMPROVEMENT AFTER OPERATION BY CRYOSURGERY. THE PAPER DISCUSSES SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT OPERATING METHODS, MECHANISMS OF CRYOTHERAPY, INDICATIONS AND CONTRA-INDICATIONS.
