Summary

RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CELLULAR PLASMS, PARTICULARLY CYTOPLASMIC ACTIN, COULD BE IMPORTANT FOR CRYOBEHAVIOUR. OBSERVATIONS ON EARLY MAMMAL EMBRYOS AND IN VITRO SIMULATIONS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CYTOSKELETON USING PURIFIED ACTIN AND ACTIN-BINDING PROTEINS CONFIRM THIS ASSUMPTION. SPECIFIC PROCESSINGS SHOW THAT SOLS AND GELS CAN BE TRANSFORMED INTO HOMOGENEOUS SOLIDS UNDER FREEZING.
