Safety valve: free flow, controlled flow.

Summary
At present safety valves are often designed for operation with back-pressure. In common safety valves, the back-pressure reduces the force operated by the fluid on the plate and therefore the valve lift and the flow rate. Test results have confirmed that outside a certain back-pressure value, valve lift instability phenomena occur, which are particularly dangerous for the safety of the devices.
