Summary

Correlations for vapour pressure and saturated-fluid-phase densities for R123 have been derived based on several experimental sources of data. These equations, which are in ITS-90, use the same parameter in the powers-of-temperature terms. A method to optimise this parameter is described. Saturated-vapour densities are calculated from the Clausius-Clapeyron equation and experimental data such that negative densities are not predicted when extrapolated towards the triple point. Based on these correlations, a procedure for the evaluation of heat of vaporisation, change in the Helmholtz free energy during evaporation, and several slope properties, i.e., the first and the second derivatives of the vapour pressure curve, slopes with respect to temperature and pressure of saturated-fluid-phase densities, and coefficients of expansion and compressibility along the saturation curve, are described. The correlations are compared with others available in the literature.
