Type of article: Article

Summary

The absorption system must be considered in any case where steam or waste heat is available at reasonably low cost. The author compares the power costs for several alternatives, including electricity from grid or diesel generator for compression systems, and single and double effect lithium bromide-water absorption machines powered from waste heat, coal fired and oil fired boilers. He also points out the environmental friendly nature of the absorption refrigerants and the likely use of waste heat from cogeneration plants. D.W.H.
