Summary

A NUMBER OF OLDER SUPERMARKET SYSTEMS HAVE A RACK OF R22 COMPRESSORS WITH A COMMON SUCTION MANIFOLD TO WHICH DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE SERVICES ARE CONNECTED THROUGH EVAPORATOR PRESSURE REGULATORS. THIS FREQUENTLY LEADS TO OVERHEATING AT COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE DUE TO HIGH SUCTION SUPERHEAT. RATHER THAN INSTALL A NEW SYSTEM USING LESS OZONE-FRIENDLY R502, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT LIQUID REFRIGERANT IS SPRAYED INTO THE SUCTION MANIFOLD VIA A SIMPLE INJECTION NOZZLE AND THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVE. SIZING DETAILS ARE PROVIDED. D.W.H.
