Scroll compressor simulation program and optimization.

Summary

This paper develops a parametric simulation program of the scroll compressor. The program includes the scroll geometry, thermodynamics in compression and discharge processes, leakage calculation, dynamics of mechanisms and efficiency evaluations. In addition, an optimization module is constructed and integrated into the program to assist in dealing with different design problems. One case for the optimum combination of design parameters in scroll compressors with specified cost function and constraint conditions is investigated and the relevant effects are discussed by using the module. It is believed that the computer program for the scroll compressor, as a useful tool, can be the foundation to progress various design optimization problems.
