THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES TESTS SET UP TO IMPROVE HEATED AIR CURTAIN EFFICIENCY. A NUMBER OF FACTORS GAVE IMPROVED RESULTS, NOTABLY THAT THE WIDTH OF THE CURTAIN SHOULD EXCEED THE DOORWAY TO AVOID SIDE LEAKAGE, THE JET MUST BE VERTICAL AND AT AS LOW A VELOCITY AS POSSIBLE TO MINIMISE ENTRAINMENT OF OUTSIDE AIR, AND JET TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE CONTROLLED RELATIVE TO OUTSIDE AIR. SUCH FACTORS MAY GIVE ENERGY SAVINGS OF UP TO 15%. D.W.H.
