Summary

RESONANCE INTERACTION BETWEEN A SECOND SOUND WAVE INCIDENT FROM HELIUM II AND A SOLID HELIUM 4 BOUNDARY (BOTH ATOMICALLY SMOOTH AND ATOMICALLY ROUGH) IS CONSIDERED. THE SPECIFIC BEHAVIOUR OF REFLECTION COEFFICIENT AT SUPERCRITICAL ANGLES OF INCIDENCE NEAR THE RESONANCE OF VOLUME AND SURFACE WAVES IS STUDIED, AND THE DEPTH AND THE HALF-WIDTH OF A RESONANCE MINIMUM ARE DETERMINED. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE SECOND SOUND IN HELIUM II CAN PRODUCE RESONANCE EXCITATIONS OF SURFACE STONELY AND REYLEIGH WAVES AT THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN HELIUM II AND AN ATOMICALLY SMOOTH FACE OF THE HELIUM 4 CRYSTAL AND BETWEEN HELIUM II AND AN ATOMICALLY ROUGH FACE OF THE HELIUM 4 CRYSTAL, RESPECTIVELY.
