Indirect cooling (or heating) is described together with its advantages and disadvantages. The properties of secondary refrigerants and heat carriers are given together with the different coolants and heat carriers used for the investigation; their properties are given in tables and graphs. Several quidelines for development of an indirect cooling (or heating) system, both in the design and in the implementation stage are given. J.L.
