Summary

The construction of a fully automated adiabatic calorimeter for the temperature range 50-350 K is described. Appropriate operation of the calorimeter was tested by measuring the specific heat of a pure copper sample with a mass of 0.36 g. The measurements showed agreement within more or less 1.5% of the standard literature values. Some results obtained for niobium hydride are also reported.
