Summary

PRESENTS AND DISCUSSES THE RESULTS OF SIMILARITY THEORY AND EXPERIMENTAL TESTS OF FAN NOISE, AS WELL AS SOME SEMI-EMPIRICAL NOISE LAWS. NOTES VARIOUS EXPERTS MAINTAIN THAT THESE NOISE LAWS, BASED ON MEASUREMENT AND ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES DEVELOPED OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, HAVE BECOME SO COMPLEX THAT IT HAS BECOME WORTHWHILE INVESTIGATING HOW FAR THEY CAN BE COUPLED WITH THE SIMPLER MADISON NOISE LAW WITHOUT ABANDONING THE LATEST FINDINGS OF FAN NOISE RESEARCH. FINDS THAT VIRTUALLY ALL THE RELEVANT FACTORS INVOLVED IN THE PROCESSCAN BE EXPRESSED BY THE SPECIFIC NOISE LEVEL OF THE MADISON NOISE LAW. (INT. BUILD. SERV.
