Summary

THE PROBLEM OF WATER VAPOUR DIFFUSION IN THE MULTILAYER WALLS OF BUILDINGS IS DISCUSSED. THE ANALYTICAL PROCEDURE, BY MEANS OF A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE RESISTANCE TO VAPOUR DIFFUSION AND THE THERMAL RESISTANCE OF WALL LAYERS MAKES IT POSSIBLE, WITHIN SOME LIMITS, TO STUDY THE LOCALISATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VAPOUR BARRIER AND, IF NECESSARY, TO STUDY THE OPTIMUM SOLUTION FOR A WALL. THIS SIMPLIFIED PROCEDURE MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO CLASSIFY WALLS ACCORDING TO THE DIFFERENT CLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND CAN BE USEFUL FOR DEFINING STANDARDS.
